 The Federal Council has decided to grant the Canton of Neuchâtel the authorization in principle to test electronic voting in federal popular elections. The authorization is valid until November 26, 2028, and covers a limited portion of the electorate. The Federal Chancellery has also approved the election on November 29, 2026.

 With this decision, the Federal Council authorizes the Canton of Neuchâtel to resume testing electronic voting, using the Swiss Post system already in use by other cantons. Electronic voting will be available to eligible Swiss voters residing abroad and in Switzerland. For the November 29, 2026, vote, Neuchâtel requests authorization for approximately 32,366 eligible voters residing in the country and approximately 7,200 residing abroad.
