The Office for Vocational Education and Training (AFB) is a department of the Department of Education, Cultural and Environmental Protection (EKUD) and implements the educational policy tasks of the Confederation and the Canton in the area of basic vocational training. It is also a competence centre in questions of vocational, school and study choice as well as an accompanying authority throughout the entire career.

The Department of Vocational, Study and Career Counselling (BSLB) advises and informs young people and adults personally, independently and free of charge in questions of profession, study and career. The BSLB supports in the choice of career, choice of study or career design and accompanies in the planning of the professional future.

We are looking for a vocational, study and career consultant for the Office for Vocational Education and Training on 1 January 2027 or by agreement (70-80%).

Tasks

• Advice and information for young people and adults in vocational, school and study choices and career design
• Support customers in using their own resources, acting responsibly and making independent decisions
• Maintaining cooperation with teachers at upper and vocational levels I and II, such as secondary and vocational schools for vocational preparation and career design
• Organisation of information events for parents and classes
• regular contacts with schools, educational institutions, specialist bodies and the economy
• Participation in projects and internal working groups

Requirements

• a Swiss-recognised training as a vocational, study and career consultant or the willingness to complete the training
• Consultancy and information skills as well as expertise in psychology, career choice, study choice and career theories
• Competent and profitable performance in front of young people and adults, parents and teachers
• preferably knowledge of regional economic structures and the labour market
• a committed, solution-oriented and resilient personality with very good communication skills
• good verbal and written expression in the German language;
• Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
• Flexibility and a good sense of organization, as well as a high degree of personal responsibility
