Role overview

Context and Mission

The Vice-President for Operations manages all the activities that make campuses live on a daily basis — restoration, information systems, security, operation, library and scientific information — and plans to develop its infrastructure for the future.

The Vice-President for Operations manages an annual budget of CHF 200 million for a portfolio of approx. 200 projects and approximately 400 employees.

Main responsibilities

  • Main tasks and responsibilities Your tasks and responsibilities will be:
  • Articulation Projects-Services: Ensure consistency between new projects (constructions, renovations, SI, etc.) and their operational impact on the quality of services delivered to EPFL units.
  • Piloting the process of project entry into portfolios: Conduct the entire Demand Management process, manage its planning and conduct with key stakeholders.
  • Governance and methodological compliance: Ensure adherence to processes, milestones and methodological quality throughout the life cycle of the Vice-President's project and service portfolios.
  • Quality and satisfaction management: Develop and monitor performance indicators (KPIs) measuring the health of major projects and the perceived quality of service delivery by users.
  • Continuous improvement: pilot and lead cross-cutting initiatives and projects to continuously improve the quality, fluidity and efficiency of the Vice-President's services. Profile
  • Training: Advanced university training in information systems or other relevant fields, supplemented by basic training in data science;
  • Further training in business management or quality management is a valuable asset. Experience:
  • Strong proven experience (5 years minimum) combining complex project management (Hermès, PMP, Prince or title deemed equivalent to a key asset) and service delivery (Service Delivery).
  • Demonstrated competencies in establishing governance frameworks.
