The Chemist is a technical contributor within the Machine Readable Features Laboratory, supporting the research, development, characterization, and validation of machine-readable features used for authentication and traceability applications.
The role covers a broad portfolio of security technologies, including functional materials, pigments, inks, and associated measurement methods (optical, physical, chemical, and functional). The role involves diverse research activities, such as literature research, theoretical and experimental evaluation of new technologies and prototyping in close collaboration within the whole department.
This position is well suited for an early career chemist seeking to work autonomously to further develop technical experience while gaining industrial experience. The position offers the potential to develop in a more senior technical role. Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the research, development and optimization of security features, including materials, pigments, and ink systems for machine readable and authentication applications.
- Support the integration of functional security materials into different ink platforms and printing processes in collaboration with formulation experts.
- Design and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate feature performance, robustness, and reproducibility.
- Perform Literature research and theoretical evaluation.
- Perform measurements and characterization using a wide range of laboratory equipment (e.g. optical, physical, chemical, functional).
- Participate in the validation of new materials, methods, and processes, contributing to industrial readiness.
- Analyse experimental data, interpret results, and propose technical improvements.

- Actively collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams. Education & Experience
- MSc/PhD in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or equivalent with specialization in Spectroscopy (Raman, FTIR, NIR, UV-Vis, fluorescence).
- Comfortable using digital tools as Python, MATLAB, Origin for data visualisation, treatment, analysis, and reporting.
- Capability to work on parallel projects in structured manner
