Open public-sector jobs in Ticino: 2026 guide
The Ticino cantonal administration publishes hundreds of competitions per year for administrative, healthcare, school and technical roles. This guide lists the currently open ones, with deadlines, hiring bodies and application links. Most roles are open to Italian cross-border workers with permit G.
How a cantonal competition works
Every vacancy in the Ticino cantonal administration, OSC (mental-health organisation), EOC (public hospital) and linked services is filled through a public competition (concorso). The bid is published on concorsi.ti.ch with a reference (e.g. "23/26"), a closing date 3-6 weeks after publication, requirements, workload percentage and salary class.
Applications go online through the HR portal. Required documents: cover letter, detailed CV, diplomas, work references. Healthcare roles additionally require MEBEKO/SRK recognition of the Italian diploma when relevant.

Eligibility for Italian cross-border workers
Most cantonal competitions are open to foreign candidates meeting the formal criteria (equivalent diploma, valid work permit, Italian language proficiency). Only a few specific roles (magistrates, some police functions) require Swiss citizenship.
For an Italian permit G holder the procedure is identical to a resident: online application, assessment, possible hiring. The Cantonal Migration Office handles the work permit in parallel. Residence-area requirements are rare and usually do not apply to cross-border workers.
Salaries in the cantonal administration
The cantonal administration applies a 25-class salary law, each class with 20 biennial increments. Administrative staff in class 5 earn between ~65,000 and ~95,000 CHF gross per year (13 months, 100%). Specialised healthcare roles (doctors, SUP nurses) sit in classes 9-15, earning 85,000-140,000 CHF.
Net for cross-border workers depends on distance from the border and the new-treaty status. Our salary calculator simulates the outcome from the class + increment stated in the bid.
