Head of Communications & Fundraising, Member of the Management Board (80%)
The Communication & Fundraising department is responsible for the positioning and public appearance of Caritas Zurich, internal and external communication, fundraising and socio-political lobbying. It thus strengthens the perception and impact of Caritas Zurich and contributes significantly to the sustainable financing of our offerings. On behalf of the Swiss-German regional organisations, Caritas Zurich also leads the communication department in the Caritas network.
As of December 1, 2026 or by agreement, we are looking for an experienced and committed leader as Head of Communication and Member of the Executive Board (80%).
You are responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Communications & Fundraising department. The positioning and appearance of Caritas Zurich and the further development of the communication strategy are your responsibility. You are also responsible for the following tasks:
- Managing a team of eight specialized employees
- Fundraising strategy: Implementation and further development of effective, sustainable fundraising
- Management of communication and fundraising channels
- Advising the management and the bid managers on internal/external communication and positioning
- Representation vis-à-vis the media, the public and bodies as well as participation in social policy lobbying
- Responsibility for the communication unit in the Caritas network on behalf of the Swiss-German regional organisations
- Co-shaping the strategic orientation and further development of Caritas Zurich as a GL member
You are a strategically thinking, initiative and solution-oriented leader with a sense of communication, social development and effective fundraising. They combine conceptual strength with implementation power, win both stakeholders and employees for common goals and also bring the following:
- In-depth training in communication, PR, marketing, fundraising or a comparable field
- Several years of professional and managerial experience in communication/marketing, preferably in the nonprofit environment
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies
- Experience with integrated communication strategies and cross-media campaigns
- Entrepreneurial thinking and business understanding
- Security in dealing with digital communication and fundraising channels as well as openness to new technologies
- Interest in socio-political and social issues
