Role overview

The Spatial AI Lab is part of Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group, which develops next-generation human-computer interaction technologies using advances in AI, hardware, and device design.

Our scientists and engineers specialize in computer vision, multimodal AI, spatial and embodied AI, robotics, and cloud services.

We are looking for a software engineer to develop intelligent systems and experiences for emerging agents.

Main responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain software for intelligent systems, prototypes, and product experiences.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and students to translate research ideas and early prototypes into robust implementations.
  • Develop and integrate components involving areas such as multimodal AI, computer vision, spatial computing, embodied AI, robotics, data processing, simulation, or hardware integration.
  • Evaluate system behavior, investigate technical issues, and improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Key requirements

  • Required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a related technical field OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing software in one or more programming languages, including but not limited to C++, C#, Python.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and learn unfamiliar technologies. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in one or more relevant areas, such as AI or machine learning, computer vision, robotics, simulation, spatial computing, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
  • Experience integrating software with machine-learning models, sensors, devices, or other complex systems.
  • Experience taking experimental or research-oriented software toward a reliable and maintainable implementation.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices and tools, including automated testing, continuous integration, debugging, profiling, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • Experience collaborating in research, academic, or multidisciplinary engineering environments. Software Engineering IC3
  • The typical base pay range for this role across Switzerland is CHF 119,200.00
  • CHF 195,500.00 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
