Mission
Within the faculty of engineering (STI), the Galatea Laboratory explores novel paradigms to tailor material properties locally using lasers.
Our research involves three main clusters: understanding and exploring laser-matter interaction phenomena, investigating new manufacturing processes based on 3D direct-write laser methods, and finally, exploring novel concepts of multi-scale systems based on single monolith.

Main responsibilities

- Define relevant research and experimental plans, sustained with theoretical considerations and knowledge of the relevant literature.
- Conduct experiments and analyze data.
- Report and disseminate the research outcome in journal publications and at international conferences.
- Interact and collaborate with other lab members as well as with industrial partners.
- Occasionally supervise undergraduate students (bachelor or master levels).
- Contribute to the laboratory operations through shared duties. Profile
- You recently obtained a PhD in optics, applied physics or related fields with a strong knowledge of optics.
- You have experience in adaptive optics as well as hands-on experience with optical setups involving lasers.
- You have a keen interest in research in the field of nonlinear optics, ultrafast lasers and/or laser-matter interaction.
