In the Freiburg prison (the institution) the prison facilities of the canton of Freiburg are combined. It has the legal form of a public institution with its own legal personality. It is administratively assigned to the Security, Justice and Sports Directorate and is under the supervision of the State Council. The institution shall ensure the guarding, accommodation, care and treatment of prisoners in its custody and contribute to the implementation of the objectives of imprisonment and measures.

Their tasks

• Work within the vegetable growing section
• Performing the various tasks on an agricultural holding
• Implementation of the various operations of an agricultural holding
• Ensure security and continuous monitoring of detainees, taking into account the different prison regimes
• Management and organisation of internal and external movements
• Participation in the rehabilitation of prisoners by positively influencing them
• Implementation of discipline, order and security among detainees
• Application and enforcement of applicable rules and instructions

Desired profile

• EFZ as a vegetable gardener or equivalent with several years of professional experience in vegetable production
• Possession of the Swiss passport for prison officers, of advantage
• Knowledge of machines and equipment, advantageous
• Good physical and mental fitness as well as flexibility and stress resistance
• Interest in good interpersonal relationships, communication and conflict management
• Willingness to work on a regular basis (irregular working hours, also on Saturdays and Sundays)
• Willingness to act outside working hours in cases of force majeure
• Good computer science skills (MS Office)
• Empty extract from the penal and enforcement register
• Mastery of the German and French languages with good knowledge of the other language
