The University of Applied Sciences of Italian Switzerland (SUPSI) is offering a competitive position in the Department of Environment, Construction and Design (DACD), based in Mendrisio.

Scope and purpose of the position

During the Master's course, students are accompanied by an assistant in their practical and project activities. They collaborate and support teachers in the professional area in teaching activities in their preparation, execution and tutoring, as well as in the supervision of projects. Their role and contribution are central in assisting disciplinary resources and tools for the teaching activities of master training. The assistant has the privilege of relating to a group of researchers active in the Design Institute and will establish collaborations according to the plans. Furthermore, 20% of the working percentage is dedicated to continuous training and professional development.

Duties

In the Scope of teaching assistance (50%) of a disciplinary nature will be in charge of:

  • Support the manager in managing the Master of Arts in Interaction design training.
  • Collaborate with the degree course teachers in teaching activities.
  • Provide support and guidance to students with explanations and clarifications.

In the field of research (30%)

  • Collaborate in the applied research activities of the Design Institute and in the projects and activities of the FabLab.
  • Carry out projects in the field of interaction design and digital manufacturing;
  • Create the design of interaction and interface solutions for applications and physical products.

Requirements

  • Master in Visual Communication, Industrial Design, Interaction Design (or similar qualification) obtained no more than three years ago.
  • Excellent knowledge of the main graphics, image processing and text layout programs.
  • Knowledge of technical tools for web design and software programming languages ​​is desirable.
  • Knowledge of hardware programming languages ​​(Arduino) and rapid prototyping techniques and technologies (3D printing, laser cutter, CNC) is desirable.
  • Creative attitudes and spirit of initiative.
  • Precision and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for teamwork, with a strong orientation towards interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently while respecting established deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Italian language. Knowledge of English and a second national language is an advantage.
