Description of post

The assessors are non-professional judges who have decision-making competence in judicial matters (art. 4 LJ). An assessor shall be summoned according to the needs of the authority concerned. He/she shall receive meeting allowances in accordance with Art. 79a RJ . The assessors shall be elected by the Grand Council, on notice of the Judicial Council, which shall contest the Grand Council with judicial functions (Art. 12 LJ). The assessors of the courts of labour are chosen jointly within employers' organisations and within workers' organisations (art. 55 LJ).

Profile desired

• Be a member of a workers' organization (Art. 55 para. 2 LJ). Letter of support or recommendation from the organization to be produced
• Home in the judicial district concerned (Veveyse)
• Candidates must have sufficient availability for the function (sessions may take place during the day)
• Citizenship active on the cantonal level. Persons of foreign nationality must hold an establishment permit and have been domiciled in the canton for at least five years. Candidates must not be the subject of an act of lack of property, not have been criminally sentenced for acts incompatible with the function
• Mastering the French language with knowledge of German
