At the Department of Communication Science and Media Research (DCM) of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Freiburg (Switzerland), a diploma assistant - doctoral student at the Chair of Media Use / Media Impact (Prof. Dr. Andreas Fahr) is to be filled. The focus of the teaching and research area is on psychologically oriented empirical media use, media reception and media impact research.

Their tasks

The job is initially limited to one year – with the option of an extension for another four years. The legal probationary period is six months.

They work on empirical research projects, write articles for journals and present results at (inter)national conferences. In addition, you are actively involved in university teaching and support the team in the organizational processes of the chair.

Desired profile

• a successful master’s degree in communication science, (media) psychology or a related subject as well as a desire to answer current questions about media and communication as part of a doctorate
• Security in Empirical Social Research: Methods and Software-Aided Data Analysis
• Joy of scientific work, initiative and team spirit
• Negotiable English. Knowledge of French is a plus – but at least the willingness to build it via the university’s free language courses
