Who are we?

The Archaeological Service of the State of Fribourg (SAEF) identifies, catalogues and lists archaeological cultural property.

It accompanies the administrative procedure for archaeological remains and implements excavations and, where appropriate, measures to preserve the remains. It enhances documentation in the form of publications. To raise public awareness of archaeological heritage, the Service organizes open houses, conferences and exhibitions and participates in training.

Your missions

• You work under the supervision of the sector head and in collaboration with the technical and scientific staff of the sector
• On the ground, you contribute to the clearing of the remains and ensure their survey in plan/cut
• As part of the post-search work, you scan the field minutes and work with the scientific and technical staff to clear the surveys and produce plans.
• For the realization of the studies, you carry out scientific drawings of all types of archaeological vestiges furniture and real estate, from penciled to published illustration, in collaboration with the scientific staff
• On request, you can design historical reconstructions (landscapes, buildings, life scenes)

Profile desired

• You benefit from an SWC and an ES advanced further education in designer, graphic designer, illustrator or equivalent. Your professional experience attests to a strong interest in scientific drawing, ideally in the archaeological or heritage field
• You benefit from proven experience in archaeology, especially in graphic documentation tasks not only in the field, but also for valorisation (plans/mobilier)
• You master the usual graphic applications, including the Adobe Suite. You have good knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS) and/or digital photogrammetry. You also master an office automation suite and current web browsing
• You are positive and show the will to integrate and work as a team, while being able to show initiative and autonomy
• You are a driver's licence holder and ideally have a vehicle
• You speak French or German and have good knowledge of the other language
