The Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (LSVW) has the task of protecting consumers by means of inspections and analyses against food and consumer objects which are hazardous to health and against deception in connection with food, and of ensuring the welfare and health of animals, both for themselves and for the benefit of human beings.

Their tasks

• As a cantonal chemist, together with the service manager, you contribute to the development and implementation of the state food safety policy.
• Due to your role, you are responsible for the management, enforcement and supervision of the tasks according to the legislation in the areas of food and consumer goods, chemicals and hygiene in public swimming and beach pools.
• They shall coordinate and supervise control activities in the food and consumer goods sector and shall participate in the recruitment of food safety specialists;
• You orient and advise the service chief, the management and the State Council in your area of responsibility

Desired profile

• You have a master’s degree from a university, ETH or FH in chemistry, biochemistry, food or natural sciences, have a federal diploma for the leading official food control (DLAL) in the sense of the applicable federal regulation
• You are results-oriented, proactive, take the initiatives and make the decision-making proposals necessary to execute your order
• They have good communication skills, are capable of teamwork and work actively and pragmatically with their employees and contacts.
• Thanks to your resilience, you can deal with high workload and irregular working hours
• Knowledge of the Freiburg agricultural and food industry is an advantage
• You master the German or French language and have excellent knowledge of the other language
