In the Freiburg prison (the institution) the prison facilities of the canton of Freiburg are combined. It has the legal form of a public institution with its own legal personality. It is administratively assigned to the Security, Justice and Sports Directorate and is under the supervision of the State Council. The institution shall ensure the guarding, accommodation, care and treatment of prisoners in its custody and contribute to the implementation of the objectives of imprisonment and measures.

Their tasks

• Standby and permanent supervision of detained persons
• Managing the disciplinary area
• Supervision during recreational activities and conducting sports
• Manage and organize internal and external movements
• To contribute to the rehabilitation of detained persons by positively affecting them
• Ensure discipline, order and security among detainees
• Apply and enforce applicable rules and instructions

Desired profile

• EFZ, or training considered equivalent with several years of professional experience
• Swiss Federal Professional Card for Prison Officers of the Swiss Centre of Competence for the Implementation of Criminal Sanctions or Readiness to Complete Training
• Good physical and mental fitness as well as flexibility and stress resistance
• Sense of interpersonal relationships, communication and conflict management
• Willingness to intervene outside working hours in cases of force majeure
• Good knowledge of computer tools (MS Office)
• Empty extracts from enforcement and criminal records
• Mastery of the French or German language with good knowledge of the other language
