- The Laboratory for Ion Beam Physics (LIP) is part of the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich and is one of the world's leading laboratories in the field of Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) and ion beam physics applications.
- Among other things, our accelerators are used for high-precision radiocarbon dating.
- Our laboratory’s best-known studies include the dating of the Shroud of Turin and the tztal glacier mummy ( tzi).

- For radiocarbon dating, you prepare a wide variety of sample materials, clean them and carry them to the measurement
- The spectrum ranges from valuable archaeological finds and cultural historical documents to challenging scientific samples.
