Main responsibilities

  • Overall management of the archive and strategic development: professional, personnel and organizational management of a small team consisting of its own function and an additional 50% position, with clear responsibility for strategic development towards a digital, research-driven infrastructure node.
  • Digital archiving and infrastructure: conception and implementation of the systematic digitization of analog sound stocks as well as a long-term archiving concept according to current standards according to the management principles; ensuring technical quality (e.g. Metadata standards);
  • Integration of modern methods for the efficient development of large audiocorpora (e.g. segmentation and (semi)automatic transcription and annotation) maintenance of technical systems
  • supervision of the collection at the site Buchs ZH Collection Center.
  • Research and scientific use: independent and collaborative research based on archive holdings; editions and publications (e.g. dialectology, phonetics, digital linguistics).
  • Services: active support for research projects and processing of enquiries (archive searches, provision of data, provision of information); transfer of the holdings and their scientific importance to the professional and wider public (e.g. guided tours, events, digital accessibility).
  • Networking: national and international networking with central institutions of dialect research as well as with research infrastructures and technology partners for the further development of digital standards and methods.
  • Teaching: The position can be extended by 15%, which creates a teaching obligation of 2 SWS per semester.
  • The teaching should take place especially for a new degree programme 'Speech & Voice Science' and can also be attended by interested students from other linguistic subjects with profit. Requirements:
