A smoother Stabio customs crossing: sign the petition

Reports of queues after the Gaggiolo crossing: we ask for data, a technical review and removal or lowering of the bump if safe.

Queues at Gaggiolo: the reports

Our newsroom is collecting reports from cross-border workers travelling through Gaggiolo towards Stabio: after the speed bump installed just beyond customs, travel time is reportedly more than 10 minutes longer than usual. According to these local observations, queues start around 05:00 on weekdays and also return on holidays. They need to be checked with an official survey; they are not certified measurements.

A heavy flow before sunrise

The official 2025 OASI count at station N24 Stabio-Gaggiolo records 1,083 vehicles per hour between 05:00 and 06:00 on weekdays. The daily total is 18,991 vehicles on weekdays, 15,836 on Saturday and 12,489 on Sunday: figures that explain why a small capacity change can quickly spread into a queue, without proving that the speed bump caused it.

The request: data, proportion and safety

We ask for the technical reason, installation date and speed limits linked to the bump to be published. Travel times and queue lengths should be measured before and after the intervention, across comparable hours and days. If the impact proves disproportionate, we ask for removal or lowering only after checking an alternative that preserves road safety for residents, workers and crossing users.
