Canton Ticino observes 15 official public holidays in 2026: here are all the dates, the bridge days and the holidays that do not coincide with Italy.

Canton Ticino has the most public holidays of any Swiss canton, many of them of Catholic tradition. For a cross-border worker who lives in Italy and works in Ticino, these days count as non-working days in Switzerland — but some do not match the Italian holidays: on Italian holidays that Ticino does not recognise you work as normal, while on Ticino holidays that Italy does not recognise you stay home. Knowing the calendar in advance helps plan leave, trips and border crossings.

When a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, taking a single day off (the Monday or the Friday) gives you a four-day break. These are the best bridge days in Ticino this year.
