The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for a Professorship and Chair of Neurology. The professorship is based at the Department of Neurology of the University Hospital Zurich and represents the subject in research, patient care and teaching. The professor will be appointed as head of the department. We seek a dynamic and inclusive leader with outstanding clinical expertise, a distinguished scientific track record, and strong international recognition, who can articulate a compelling vision for the future of neurological research and education. Applicants must hold a habilitation (or equivalent qualification) and board certification in neurology. Relevant research areas may include, but are not limited to, cerebrovascular diseases, neurooncology, movement disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and neuroimmunology. Candidates should demonstrate leadership experience at the level of senior physician or senior attending physician at a university hospital. A proven ability to lead large research teams, secure competitive third-party funding, and contribute to teaching at all levels-including student instruction, thesis supervision, and the mentorship of early-career researchers-is essential. The appointee is expected to strengthen existing collaborations within the hospital and with external research institutions. In particular, the role involves fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and further developing the existing Clinical Neuroscience Center in close partnership with the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Neuroradiology. The University of Zurich offers exceptional conditions for cutting-edge medical research. With its four university hospitals, the University of Zurich provides access to extensive patient populations, interdisciplinary research networks, and clinical expertise across all age groups and specialties. Its proximity to ETH Zurich offers additional opportunities for collaboration in computational medicine, bioengineering, data science, and AI-driven medicine. As a result, the Zurich location offers a translational ecosystem that spans from basic re-search to clinical application. The Neuroscience Center Zurich (ZNZ) provides excellent opportunities for networking with basic neuroscience groups at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. German language skills at level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time. The University of Zurich is an equal opportunities employer and in particular strives to increase the percentage of women in leading positions. Therefore, qualified female researchers are encouraged to apply. The University of Zurich sees researchers as modern leadership personalities who conduct excellent research - taking into account the Open Science principles - through their own research projects, promote excellent young researchers and who help to shape a forward-looking university with innovative research-based teaching.
