Put to the Point

Old potato and grape varieties are obtained in the test tube. They are responsible for their care and preservation of these valuable genetic resources for research and future generations. They work in the fields of in vitro culture and molecular biology, ensuring that each strain remains healthy, identified and available to partners as needed.

Good food, healthy environment

Agroscope is the federal competence centre for research in the agricultural and food industry. The researchers carry out their activities at various locations in Switzerland. The headquarters is Bern-Liebefeld (from 2026: Posieux FR). Agroscope is located at Eidg. Department of Economy, Education and Research WBF.

We offer this

We are committed to the success model Switzerland and work for the benefit of the population. Thanks to equal opportunities, we develop our skills and bring different perspectives. We support and advise our employees in the field of physical and mental health.

Additional information

The plant genome dynamics research group is investigating how plants can adapt rapidly to climate change at the genetic and epigenetic levels. This basic knowledge supports the development of new breeding methods and breeding approaches, which should then help to make our cultures “climate-ready” faster. The research group uses genomic and epigenomic bioinformatics tools.

Questions about this listing

What salary does Agroscope offer for this role?

The original listing does not state a salary. Our estimate for this role and sector in Zürich is CHF 47'800 - 79'500 gross per year — an estimate, not a figure communicated by Agroscope. The calculator on this site converts a gross salary into your actual net take-home once cross-border tax and social contributions are applied.

Is this a full-time role, and what type of contract does Agroscope offer?

This listing is a part-time position. The contract type shown here comes directly from the employer's original posting; always confirm exact hours, notice period and probation length with Agroscope during the application process, since these details can vary by role even within the same contract category.

Do I need a cross-border work permit for a role in Zürich?

EU/EFTA citizens living in an EU/EFTA state can apply for a G permit and can work anywhere in Switzerland: border zones no longer apply to them, and they must return home at least once a week. The Swiss employer files the request with Canton Zürich's migration office after the contract is signed. Processing times vary by canton, so confirm the specifics with Zürich's cantonal migration office or with HR during the application.
