Institute of Medical Virology

Job entry takes place immediately or by agreement.

The Institute of Medical Virology of the University of Zurich is active in the teaching, research and diagnosis of viral diseases. As one of the major virological institutes in Switzerland and as a national reference centre for retroviruses and poliomyelitis, we have a wide range of molecular biology and sequence-based methods, serology and cell culture for the identification and characterisation of human pathogenic viruses. The advertised body is located in the field of diagnostics (accredited according to ISO 15189:2022).

Tasks

• Conduct of virological-diagnostic studies in the fields of molecular diagnostics, serology and virus culture
• Management of clinical samples (sampling, logistics, preanalysis, etc.)
• Data collection, evaluation and evaluation of test results
• Telephone information to senders

Profile

• Training as a dipl. biomed. Analyst HF or comparable vocational training
• Experience in laboratory work in the diagnostic field
• Basic computer science knowledge (Windows, Office programs, etc.)
• Exact, independent and responsible working methods
• a team-capable, flexible personality with rapid comprehension and a high willingness to perform
• Good oral and written knowledge of German
• Experience with “in-house” real-time PCR is an advantage
