Canton of Zurich Education Directorate School for Design Zurich Head of Department / Head of Department 80 - 100% The School for Design Zurich is one of the most interesting vocational schools in the canton with around 1400 learners in basic education, 48 learners in the design preliminary course, 1000 participants in higher vocational education and training courses and around 140 teachers and 25 employees: the competence center for design, communication, media production, painting and lacquer. At the beginning of the spring semester 2027 or by agreement, the position of a department head must be filled. As a member of the school management, together with the rector, the vice-rector, the head of department and the head of services, you are responsible for the pedagogical, personnel, financial and administrative leadership as well as for the further development of this versatile and innovative vocational school. Their tasks

• They promote creative education in pre-, basic and higher vocational training and are responsible for the effectiveness of creative values both internally and externally. They design school development projects, implement them and promote interdisciplinarity.
• You perform your leadership role with empathy, social and institutional responsibility, persuasion and integrative skills. They have entrepreneurial thinking and high competence in self-management.
• You solve complex questions strategically and prudently, change processes influence you constructively. They are committed to the perception of the school as a creative competence center. They support the implementation of technical, digital, economic and social change.
• The promotion of industry-specific interests and the maintenance of the network with association partners are important to you.
• In the school management team, you are responsible for the development of several areas, e.g. one or more professional fields of basic education, further education, coursework, events or quality management – depending on your strengths and the current realignment of the school management.
• They teach eight to ten lessons a week. Your profile
• Graduate degree Tertiary A or B in a profession taught at our school or a corresponding field of study and diploma as full-time teacher of vocational school or teaching diploma for secondary technical schools in the main office
• Multi-year successful teaching experience
• Preferably leadership experience in education and organizational talent
• Creative, innovative, resilient and team-capable personality with excellent communication skills Our offer
