As a (Junior) Category Business Manager Books, you will strategically and commercially advance our book category and further develop our range, sales and customer experience.

- You have commercial responsibility for the Books category.
- Revenue, margin and market share are your key KPIs – you control the category data-based and with a clear view of business – you maintain, deepen and expand relationships with our existing suppliers, publishers and distributors and gain new strategic partners for Galaxus – you love the book world and you are on the road where the music plays.
- 2-5 years: Book industry (publishing, book trade or intermediate book trade)
- Completed studies (uni/ETH, FH, HF): Business administration, marketing, media economy
Main responsibilities
- You have commercial responsibility for the Books category.
- Revenue, margin and market share are your key KPIs – you control the category data-based and with a clear view of business – you maintain, deepen and expand relationships with our existing suppliers, publishers and distributors and gain new strategic partners for Galaxus – you love the book world and you are on the road where the music plays.
- Travelling to book fairs (e.g.
- Frankfurt, Leipzig) is not a mandatory program for you, but the highlight to identify trends and strengthen partnerships - you analyze product range gaps, market trends and the purchasing behaviour of our customers.
- From figures you read the future of the category and derive concrete measures
- You work closely with the Category Portfolio Management (which takes care of the product data) and the editorial to put your category in perfect stage
Key requirements
- 2-5 years: Book industry (publishing, book trade or intermediate book trade)
- Completed studies (uni/ETH, FH, HF): Business administration, marketing, media economy
- For this varied and demanding position you bring a higher completed education (bachelor or master, ideally in business-related disciplines)
- You bring professional experience from the book industry (e.g. from the book trade, a publisher or the intermediate book trade) and know the dynamics and peculiarities of this market
- You are at heart a reader or a real book nerd.
- You burn for the product and that passion is noticed – you love data as much as good stories.
- Excel does not make you cry, but helps you to make the right business decisions
- You like to approach people, communicate win-win and negotiate with partners on an equal footing - always with the goal of a long-term win-win situation
- You work independently, think entrepreneurially and have the desire to try and tackle things in a dynamic e-commerce environment
- Recognize potential for improvement and implement changes to increase productivity and effectiveness
