As a specialist in occupational safety and environmental protection at Visp, Switzerland, you support the legally compliant, effective and practical implementation of the requirements in occupational safety and environmental protection. With structured documentation, careful data maintenance and consistent tracking, you contribute to a reliable EHS management system. You work closely with production companies, technical areas, location functions and internal and external specialist departments. The position gives you the opportunity to take responsibility, actively drive improvements and help shape sustainable solutions for safe and environmentally sound operations.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Support the implementation and tracking of measures from hazard assessments, inspections, events, audits and safety programs.
• Maintain EHS-relevant documents, registers, key figures, training evidence and action lists and ensure that they are up-to-date.
• Prepare security visits, controls and EHS training, accompany their implementation and document the results.
• Process waste management tasks, including declarations, accompanying documents, disposal routes, documentation and volume evaluations.
• Maintain substance data and environmentally relevant information on hazardous and operating substances and support investigations on storage, use and disposal.
• Collect, plausibly and document emissions- and wastewater-related data and support the implementation of defined legal and operational requirements.
• Coordinate professional inquiries with internal departments and external service providers and consistently follow agreed dates and measures.
• Participate in EHS projects, continuous improvements and in the preparation of internal and external audits and contacts with authorities.

Qualifications and experience

• Completed technical or scientific training (e.g. chemistry, process engineering, environmental sciences, engineering or similar) or alternatively completed professional training at RF level with appropriate professional experience.
• at least five years of professional experience in occupational safety, environmental protection, chemical production or technical processing
• Experience in an industrial or chemical environment is an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of Swiss occupational safety and environmental legislation (EKAS, UVG, ArG, USG, ChemG, StFV, GSchG, etc.) is desirable.
• Further training in occupational safety or environmental protection is desirable, for example an ASGS training or an environmental protection course or the willingness to complete it.
• Experience in handling hazardous substances, transport of dangerous goods and chemicals law
• Knowledge of occupational hygiene and exposure assessment desirable
• Confident knowledge of German and good knowledge of English for cooperation in an international business environment
• Knowledge of French is an advantage.
• Structured, careful and independent working methods with high implementation and timeliness.
• Good understanding of technical and environmental contexts and the ability to translate requirements into workable steps.
• Safe handling of Microsoft 365
• Experience with EHS, waste or substance data systems is an advantage.
• You enjoy working in a team, hearing different perspectives and actively engaging in joint solutions.
