Dean of Academic Affairs / Chief Academic Officer
Mansions
- manage and coordinate Bachelor's, Master's and other academic activities of the institution.
- promote the development of curricula, educational innovation and interdisciplinary and experiential learning, including the Academic Travel programme.
- coordinate the teaching staff activities, evaluation, promotion and professional development processes.
- support scientific research activities, interdisciplinary collaborations and access to competitive funding.
- supervise academic support structures, including Registrar, library, learning services and digital teaching initiatives.
- co-operation in the development of academic policies, counselling services to students and training initiatives.
- coordinate quality credit and insurance processes according to Swiss and US standards.
- contribute to institutional strategic planning and academic budget management.
- support the development of new academic initiatives and continuing training.
Requirements and qualifications
- terminal academic title in its own disciplinary field, obtained from an accredited institution.
- proven academic management and management experience in higher education.
- in-depth knowledge of the American liberal arts university model, preferably matured in a residential context.
- experience in accreditation processes, institutional evaluation and quality assurance.
- knowledge of the Swiss and European university system, or readiness to deepen its normative and organizational aspects.
- collaborative leadership skills, team coordination and management of relationships with the teaching body.
- solid academic and scientific experience; a profile suitable for appointment to ordinary professor is preferable.
- knowledge of Italian, or willingness to learn it, considered an advantage. Knowledge of another Swiss national language is another preferential title.
