- The PhD candidate is expected to enrol at the Academy of Architecture’s Doctoral School.
- The PhD position is scheduled to start on 1 July 2026.
- Master’s degree, preferably in Architecture History, Art History (with a focus on Architecture and/or Urban History), Urban/Territorial Studies, or Architecture.
- Experience in academic work and in organising one’s own work autonomously and in a structured manner.
Main responsibilities
- The PhD candidate is expected to enrol at the Academy of Architecture’s Doctoral School.
- The PhD position is scheduled to start on 1 July 2026.
- Duration: 4 years.
- The position is considered a full-time role.
- 80% of working-hours are reserved for PhD research, related academic presentations and writing of related scientific articles and the dissertation.
Key requirements
- Master’s degree, preferably in Architecture History, Art History (with a focus on Architecture and/or Urban History), Urban/Territorial Studies, or Architecture.
- Experience in academic work and in organising one’s own work autonomously and in a structured manner.
- Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
- German and French, at least reading skills.
- Additional knowledge of Italian would be an advantage.
- Willingness to collaborate in a small research team and to contribute to academic activities and exchange.
- IT skills (Word/Pages, Powerpoint/Keynote, Adobe). Cosa

- Salary levels correspond to those set by the Swiss National Science Foundation for PhD researchers.
