The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Italian Switzerland (SUPSI) is offering a competition at the
Early childhood service
, the selection of educational personnel to be included within the educational teams. The competition is annual with the possibility of being hired during 2026, depending on the needs of the Service and with the possibility of mobility between offices.
Scope and purpose of the position
The early childhood service is promoted by the SUPSI Management to allow better reconciliation between family, professional and/or study commitments and coordinates in particular the SUPSI nursery centers (SUPSInido Manno, USI SUPSInido Viganello and SUPSInido Locarno). They are designed for children from 4 months to 3-4 years, aimed primarily at SUPSI and USI-SUPSI families but also available to external families residing in the area.
Responsibilities and activities
The selected educator will work within an educational team, with the aim of promoting the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children. The professional figure will be responsible for the following activities:
- Educational planning: development of spaces and environments aimed at the well-being and growth of the children welcomed, in line with the Service guidelines, ensuring an inclusive and personalized approach.
- Independent management of a group: encouraging interaction between children, stimulating collaboration, communication and mutual respect, helping to create a peaceful and welcoming context.
- Observation and documentation: monitoring children's growth and learning progress, drafting evaluation documents and reports and maintaining continuous communication with families.
- Collaboration with the educational team: work in synergy with the other professional figures of the Service, to guarantee a co-participatory and cohesive approach.
- Care and assistance activities: support in daily child care activities, such as feeding, hygiene and rest, ensuring a safe and protected environment.
Requirements
- SUP diploma or university qualification in the educational sector (Bachelor in social work with Educator curriculum, Degree in Educational Sciences or similar), or diploma from a tertiary high school (SSS diploma of Childhood Educator) or Federal Certificate of Ability as OSA Childhood.
- SERI recognition required if the qualification was obtained abroad.
- Previous experience in a nursery and/or in a similar context is a preferential requirement.
- Knowledge of pedagogical principles and educational methodologies applicable to the early childhood context.
- Relational and communication skills with children and families.
- Attitude for teamwork and collaboration.
- Participatory approach aimed at implementing the pedagogical project.
- Flexibility aimed at the proper functioning of the Service.

In addition to the documents to be sent when applying online, further documentation may be requested at a later time (health questionnaire, copy of an identity document). The attention of candidates, selected for an interview, is drawn to the fact that to verify their good reputation, the personal data will be transmitted to the cantonal supervisory authority (UFaG) which in turn will request the extract of the criminal records directly from the cantonal criminal records coordination service (in accordance with art. 18 paragraph 4 of the Ordinance on the reception of minors for the purpose of affiliation). Only applications submitted by 31 December 2026 via the dedicated application form will be taken into consideration. Incomplete applications, sent to other addresses or after the established deadline will not be accepted.
Key requirements
- Diploma SUP o titolo universitario nel settore educativo (Bachelor in lavoro sociale con curriculum Educatore, Laurea in Scienze dell’educazione o analogo), oppure diploma di una Scuola superiore di grado terziario (diploma SSS di Educatrice/tore dell’infanzia) oppure Attestato Federale di Capacità come OSA Infanzia.
- Riconoscimento SEFRI richiesto nel caso in cui il titolo di studio fosse stato conseguito all’estero.
- Esperienza pregressa in un nido dell’infanzia e/o in un contesto analogo costituisce requisito preferenziale.
- Conoscenza dei principi pedagogici e delle metodologie educative applicabili al contesto della prima infanzia.
- Capacità relazionale e comunicativa con i bambini e le famiglie.
- Attitudine al lavoro di gruppo e alla collaborazione.
- Approccio partecipativo rivolto all’implementazione del progetto pedagogico.
- Flessibilità rivolta al buon funzionamento del Servizio.
