The canton of St.Gallen has a lively theatre and dance scene with supra-regional significance. The Department of Cultural Promotion of the Canton of St.Gallen has revised the multiannual funding in the fields of dance, theatre and contemporary circus. The multiannual funding supports professional performing arts groups in the Canton of St.Gallen and creates stable framework conditions for artistic development, production and touring activities.

What to expect

• Assessment of multiannual applications for funding in accordance with established criteria
• Participation in jury meetings (usually one session per decision round)
• Participation in discussions with groups and artists
• Formulation of recommendations for the management of cultural promotion
• The jury members are independent, they cannot apply for or receive grants during the jury seat as a member of an institution, a group or as an individual of the free scene in the canton of St.Gallen.
• Any potential conflicts of interest shall be disclosed. In case of bias, jury members go on strike
• The maximum term of office of the jury members is eight years (usually temporary and associated with periodic rotation)

What sets it apart

• Proven professional qualifications in performing arts (theater, dance or contemporary circus)
• Experience in one or more of these areas, for example from artistic work, mediation and cultural education, participation in organisations, research or other approaches
• good knowledge of the current free theatre and dance scene in Switzerland
• Understanding the concerns and needs of performing artists
• Willingness to represent your own positions in a differentiated way and to reflect on them in collegial exchange
