MAIN TASKS

What seems banal at first glance is actually a complex product: a toilet seat combines numerous, often contradictory requirements. This is precisely where the challenge lies – and the need for sound know-how. During your internship, you will support us in evaluating and testing new materials to develop the next generation toilet seat – with a particular focus on thermoplastics in the injection molding process. This includes the right choice of material, a well-thought-out component design and the right process technology in injection molding. You will be supported by an experienced team of materials, simulation and process engineering experts and use modern laboratories for material testing and development. In addition, you verify your findings as part of external sampling – accompanied by an experienced process engineer. You will also take care of the following activities:

• Building knowledge in discussions with experts in an interdisciplinary environment and by analyzing normative requirements
• Material research: Which plastics are suitable for our toilet seats?
• Simulation: Finite element method / filler image simulation to verify material selection
• Laboratory tests: for optics/mechanics/chemistry
• Samples and production experiments: correlation between theory, laboratory and practice

PROFILE

You study materials science, physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering or a related subject. In addition, the following characteristics and abilities characterize you:

• Interest in discovering the diversity of thermoplastic materials
• Experience in literature research, laboratory work and process and process engineering
• Friends of independent work and cooperation in an interdisciplinary team
