With its four offices and five services and its approximately 200 employees, the Department of Health provides for the protection, promotion and preservation of human and animal health. This includes ensuring a high level of basic medical care thanks to optimal hospital planning in the field of acute somatics and psychiatry, health prevention and consumer protection and veterinary services. The Cantonal Medical Office advises the departmental management, the Department of Health and other departments in matters of health and disease. It is responsible for implementing federal laws, especially in the areas of communicable diseases and narcotics. In the area of addiction, the addiction policy based on the federal four-pillar model is implemented at the cantonal level and is also responsible for the administration of the alcohol tenth.

What to expect

• Implementation and enforcement of federal and cantonal laws in the area of addiction/addiction assistance
• Advising the Department of Health on issues relating to addiction
• Processing of parliamentary proposals
• Information on thematic issues
• Co-development and implementation of cantonal action plans and projects
• Coordination of the Intercantonal Agreement for Social Institutions (IVSE)
• Administrative and financial management of the alcohol tenth and the tax on gambling

• Master in Social Sciences (Social Work or Education) or in Psychology, Health Science, Health Promotion and Prevention
• In-depth knowledge of addiction work and health
• Several years of professional experience and managing projects
• Interest in health policy processes and public health as well as good knowledge of health care
• Safe and communicative appearance
• Style-confident oral and written expression
• Knowledge of foreign languages (English, French) is advantageous
