The Office for the Environment ensures the protection and sustainable management of natural resources and ensures that the environment of the canton Solothurn remains livable. For the department of hydraulic engineering, we are looking for a scientific employee in hydrometry, 40-60%, as of 01.01.2027 or by agreement at the Solothurn site.

Your responsibility

• In cooperation with external contractors, they ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the cantonal hydrometric measuring network and ensure the coordination of hydrometrics with the Confederation and other cantons.
• Plausibilization, processing and evaluation of the measured data They provide important basics for internal and external users.
• Increasing extreme hydrological events (flooding, drought) require you to manage exceptional situations in the surface waters.
• The ongoing updating of the water network, updating of the ecomorphology and publication of important data for the public are part of your area of responsibility.
• You are a member of the Cantonal Flood Picetting Service.

Your profile

• You have acquired your technical skills in a university study in the field of engineering or environmental sciences or a higher environmental engineering specialist training and have experience in hydrometrics, ecomorphology, drought/flood management and data evaluation.
• Initiating and managing projects is up to you and you have experience in project management.
• You are familiar with GIS, databases and software for statistical data analysis.
• They bring patience, humor and the conviction to commit to a good cause.
• They enjoy working in a team and are ready to tackle the tasks and challenges with commitment.
