The Veterinary Service is responsible for the implementation of animal welfare, animal diseases and veterinary medicine legislation as well as food legislation in the field of animal husbandry and slaughter in the Canton of Solothurn. We are looking for an official veterinarian/veterinarian at the Solothurn site as of 01.01.2027 or by agreement.

Your responsibility

• In agricultural or private livestock holdings and in pet holdings, you carry out animal welfare controls.
• They are responsible for carrying out the inspection results in the area of animal welfare (complaints, orders, complaints).
• They assess agricultural construction applications in the context of the co-reporting procedures.
• If necessary, you provide official veterinary support in other areas (double checks, in epidemic cases, administrative leadership support, etc.).

Your profile

• have a university degree in veterinary medicine with further training as official veterinarian or readiness to complete the further training;
• In dealing with livestock, you can have several years of experience and have a solid knowledge of farm animal husbandry.
• In veterinary legislation and in administrative processes, you are saddle-proof.
• Process-oriented, precise and structured working method combined with very good expressiveness in word and writing in German are among your strengths. Negotiation skills and assertiveness combined with emotional resilience and high resilience round off your profile.
