The Office for Transport and Civil Engineering (AVT) is responsible for the further development and value preservation of the cantonal roads and paths as well as their operational maintenance. It plans and orders public regional and local transport and approves transport measures on municipal roads. The aim is to ensure performance-appropriate, safe and sustainable transport mobility in the canton. For the road construction department, we are looking for a department manager at the Solothurn site, 80-100%, as of 01.12.2026 or by agreement.

Your responsibility

• They lead the road construction department with around 20 employees and are responsible for their personnel, professional and organizational management.
• In your role, you are responsible for the project planning and implementation of cantonal road construction projects, from planning to successful implementation.
• The annual and multiannual planning of road construction investments is controlled by you, while you always keep an eye on dates, costs and quality.
• They manage a versatile project portfolio and ensure targeted, economical and high-quality project management.
• As a member of the Executive Board, you contribute to the further development of the Office and represent it in cantonal and extra-cantonal committees, commissions and working groups.

Your profile

• You have completed a civil engineering degree ETH/FH or an equivalent education.
• In-depth knowledge and several years of experience in the planning and realization of complex road construction projects – especially in the settlement area – distinguish you.
• As a motivating leader, you bring several years of leadership experience as well as profound knowledge in project and portfolio management.
• They think in a network, quickly capture different interests and requirements, carefully weigh them against each other.
• They work independently and solution-oriented, appreciate the cooperation in the team and communicate verbally and in writing clearly, securely and addressable.
