- Es ist das Kompetenzzentrum für die Sportförderung und stellt der sportlich aktiven Bevölkerung sowie den Vereinen Sportanlagen, Hallen- und Freibäder zur Verfügung.
- Die Organisation des obligatorischen Schwimmunterrichts und des freiwilligen Schulsports zählt ebenfalls zu den Kernaufgaben des Sportamts.
