Company description

With over 13,000 employees representing 160 trades, the University Hospitals in Geneva are a reference institution at the national and international levels. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to consult our 2025 retrospective by clicking here. The Department of Medicine (DMED) provides comprehensive and specialized care for patients in hospitals and outpatients. Driven by a holistic, human approach based on best medical practices, it offers reference care in many specialties (cardiology, gastroenterology, pneumology, angiology and nephrology), with 24/7 availability. Engaged in clinical excellence, teaching and research, DMED promotes innovation, continuous skill development and patient-centred care, while ensuring the quality of life at work and the efficiency of benefits. Within this department, the purpose of the Infectious Diseases Service is to reconcile a clinical activity that meets the needs of a university hospital with an academic research and teaching activity with the Faculty of Medicine. It provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS. It relies on a medical team specialized in infectious and microbiology and develops its activities in close association with many hospital partners in order to ensure multidisciplinary and high quality management. This position is newly created and is part of the ALTER deployment, which aims to ensure that work organization complies with the Labour Act (LTr).

You mobilize your clinical sense, analytical spirit and decision-making capacity to ensure quality management based on best medical practices. Thanks to your organizational sense and ability to manage priorities, you effectively conduct your clinical activities while responding to the many demands associated with your function (patients, telephones, correspondence, meetings). You ensure compliance with institutional procedures and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality and safety of care. In the face of demanding situations and the diversity of issues you encounter, you demonstrate discernment, resilience and excellent stress management. Your intellectual curiosity and interest in the evolution of medical knowledge allow you to maintain a high level of expertise. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you work closely with the various services, professionals and professionals of the institution in a coordinated approach that focuses on the needs of patients. You maintain constructive working relationships and foster clear, respectful and appropriate communication with your colleagues, caregivers and their loved ones. Building on your team spirit, you show solidarity with the unexpected. As head or head of clinic, you are actively involved in the supervision and training of internal physicians in the department, adopting a mentoring posture and sharing your expertise. You also have the opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects within the department.

Questions about this listing

What salary does HUG offer for this role?

The original listing does not state a salary. Our estimate for this role and sector in Genève is CHF 116'500 - 162'500 gross per year — an estimate, not a figure communicated by HUG. The calculator on this site converts a gross salary into your actual net take-home once cross-border tax and social contributions are applied.

Is this a full-time role, and what type of contract does HUG offer?

This listing is a full-time position. The contract type shown here comes directly from the employer's original posting; always confirm exact hours, notice period and probation length with HUG during the application process, since these details can vary by role even within the same contract category.

Do I need a cross-border work permit for a role in Geneva?

EU/EFTA citizens living in an EU/EFTA state can apply for a G permit and can work anywhere in Switzerland: border zones no longer apply to them, and they must return home at least once a week. The Swiss employer files the request with Canton Geneva's migration office after the contract is signed. Processing times vary by canton, so confirm the specifics with Geneva's cantonal migration office or with HR during the application.
