Your Mission

The person in charge guarantees, through his unit, a quality reception allowing migrants to quickly orient themselves in their new environment. It promotes their rapid, sustainable and participatory integration into the Geneva community, in coordination with internal and external partners in the General Hospital. It also works towards the development of living together, the strengthening of social cohesion and the promotion of harmonious, respectful and inclusive cohabitation within the collective housing centres and neighbourhoods in which they belong.

To this end, unity

• Ensures the establishment of the processes, facilities and infrastructure necessary for the reception, information and orientation of newcomers;
• Develops interactions, intercultural exchanges and opportunities for encounters between the migrant population and the host society in order to foster social integration, participation in local life and living together;
• Designs, supports and coordinates actions that promote inclusion, autonomy, citizen engagement, the development of power to act and the development of social links between residents and their environment;
• Support beneficiaries in the progressive acquisition of their autonomy in everyday life and in understanding their social, administrative and institutional environment, in order to encourage their active participation in society;
• Develops and runs a network of community partners (public, private, associations, volunteers, inhabitants, municipalities, cultural and sports institutions, etc.) contributing to integration and social cohesion;
• Promotes the participation of residents in community life and encourages initiatives that strengthen accountability, mutual respect and a sense of belonging to the community;
• Manages collective life in shelters and prevents, accompanies or resolves situations of tension or conflict in an approach that promotes dialogue, mediation and respect for diversity;
• Ensures the planning, monitoring and control of the unit's budget framework, ensures the efficient use of allocated resources and helps to optimize benefits in line with institutional objectives;
• Represents the service to political authorities, state services, municipalities and any other entity concerned with the issues of reception, integration and social cohesion.

The person in charge anticipates and accompanies the organisational changes necessary to adapt the unit in order to offer benefits that meet the needs of the beneficiaries and the challenges of integration, social participation and living-all of the canton. It also ensures responsible management of the human, financial and material resources made available to the unit.

Your profile

• You have a university education (minimum Bachelor's degree) or a HES qualification and experience in a position with managerial responsibilities, preferably in accommodation structures for a public in a precarious situation;
• A dynamic and flexible personality, you are comfortable in human contacts and open up;
• You demonstrate a good analytical spirit and an ability to adopt a broad vision;
• Your sense of diplomacy and your ability to innovate are recognized;
• Your interest in social work in complexity is proven;
• You have a very good knowledge of the legal frameworks and you have shown administrative rigour;
• You master common computer tools;
• Knowledge of a project management methodology is a plus, and knowledge of the migration community and the Geneva community is an asset.
