In the Freiburg prison (the institution) the prison facilities of the canton of Freiburg are combined. It has the legal form of a public institution with its own legal personality. It is administratively assigned to the Security, Justice and Sports Directorate and is under the supervision of the State Council. The institution shall ensure the guarding, accommodation, care and treatment of prisoners in its custody and contribute to the implementation of the objectives of imprisonment and measures.

- Perform administrative tasks in the field of training
- Ensure the follow-up of the training of all employees
- Maintain and update the various training-related files and databases
- Organising the logistics of internal training
