In our stables, clinic rooms and offices at the Farm Animal Clinic Bern, we offer an environment that enables modern research. In cooperation with university institutions that support innovation and product development, a device is currently being developed that mechanically protects the calf from respiratory pathogens. Currently, this is tested on a limited number of calves (severity of the animal test: low, 0 of 3; i.e. without load). Their tasks
Carrying out transport of calves from practices in the surrounding area from Bern to the clinic, veterinary care of calves with the support of the doctors on duty. Project description
Respiratory diseases in the fattening calf are of great importance against the background of animal welfare, antibiotic use and resistance as well as economic considerations. There is an urgent need to develop and implement measures that lead to improvement in practice. The present project is to follow on from an ongoing project in which the calves are protected from respiratory pathogens during the transport of fattening operations. You can look forward to that.
