Courts of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft

The courts of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft are responsible for the jurisdiction of the canton. At the level of the first instance, they consist of two civil district courts, the criminal court, juvenile court and coercive measures court as well as the tax and expropriation court. The second instance is the cantonal court with four departments. The court administration is attached to the cantonal court.

Cantonal Court, Criminal Law Division

The cantonal court is the highest judicial authority of the canton in all areas of law. The Criminal Law Department is the appeal body against judgments of the Criminal and Juvenile Court. As a complaints body, it is also responsible, among other things, for the assessment of orders, procedural acts and decisions of the police, the public prosecutor's office, the youth prosecutor's office and the courts of first instance in criminal matters.
