The Department of Finance and Resources, with around 650 employees, is responsible as a cross-sectional department for ensuring that the canton has the necessary resources to fulfil its tasks.

The General Secretariat shall plan, steer and coordinate overall strategic and operational administrative activities. The employees provide the department head and the departments with cooperative and effective leadership support. Services include communication, human resources management, business planning and controlling, accounting, project coordination, legal service and quality assurance.
