How this index works

For each of the 15 Italian border cities we publish a daily page with the average diesel price across municipal stations, the cheapest pumps ranked, and the closest Swiss price for context. Data comes from the Italian Ministry's "Osservaprezzi Carburanti" portal, updated directly by station operators. The city page is the practical entry point for an at-a-glance view before drilling into a specific station.

For a cross-border worker driving home from Lugano, the choice between filling up in Mendrisio before the crossing or in Como after shifts every day with the CHF/EUR rate and local pricing. This index is the quick map of the Italian side: click your city, read today's average, and compare it against the nearest Ticino zone (Como ↔ Chiasso, Varese ↔ Mendrisio, Luino ↔ Locarno).
