The Ombudsman is looking for an exceptional person for a unique legal internship from 1 April 2027 or by agreement (100%, 6 months limited, longer by agreement).

An internship at the Ombudsman’s Office not only enables you to gain experience in legal practice. In particular, you can use and improve your skills in consulting and talking to people of all kinds.

Tasks

• You will learn about the tasks and working methods of a municipal ombudsman's office.
• They benefit from the close cooperation with the Ombudsman and his team.
• They advise those seeking advice (especially first contacts on the phone) and make inquiries with the city administration.
• They clarify the facts and the legal situation.
• They create journal entries and file notes in the dossiers, participate in consultation hours and mediation interviews and keep the minutes.

Profile

• MLaw. Your studies are completed at the start of the internship.
• Consultation experience or Court or administrative experience is beneficial, but not a condition.
• Independent, accurate and forwarded working method. The pleasure of working in a team.
• Interest in people in a wide variety of life situations and with diverse questions as well as the willingness to hold difficult conversations and respond to people in need or with restrictions.
• Endurance and resilience, but also creativity, helpfulness and curiosity to find the best solution.

We offer you a pleasant and stimulating working atmosphere, fair employment conditions and a nice workplace in the old town. The salary corresponds to an auditorium at district courts of the Canton of Zurich. A maximum of three months will be credited to the internship year for the bar examination. The Ombudsman Office is responsible for questions and concerns relating to the administration of the City of Zurich. The Ombudsman's Office advises those seeking advice free of charge, checks whether the city administration works lawfully, fairly and close to the citizens, mediates if necessary and makes recommendations for good administration.
