Engage with us for the vision of a solidarity society, as Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centres at various locations in the canton of Zurich since March 2024. As support for the night and weekend service, you are responsible for the personal and age-appropriate care of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers during the night, weekends and public holidays at the MNA Centre on Aathalstrasse in Zurich-Uster. Their tasks
- Care and support of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (MNA) during night, weekend and public holiday services
- Ensuring night rest, compliance with house rules and safety requirements and regular checks
- Active and reliable presence in the community areas and contact person for young people
- Guidance and support of young people in everyday life, especially in nutrition, hygiene, order and cleanliness
- Assistance for sick young people and appropriate action in conflict, crisis and emergency situations and information to the competent authorities
- Promoting self-employment, social inclusion and respectful coexistence and participation in recreational activities
- Documentation of specific occurrences, reliable information sharing and service transfer
- Collaboration with the socio-educational teams and other specialist bodies as well as participation in team meetings and training
Our requirements
- Completed training, experience in migration and/or youth work beneficial
- Joy in the care of young people and interest in their social integration
- Good knowledge of German in words and writing, further language skills beneficial
- Rapid comprehension as well as readiness and ability to quickly familiarize yourself with internal digital work and documentation systems
- High resilience, conflict management competence and a calm, respectful and appreciative attitude
- Self-employed, reliable and responsible work with initiative and good work organization
- Cultural openness and teamwork
- Ability to work actively, attentively and independently even during night work
- Time flexibility for changing night services on all days of the week as well as early and late services on weekends and public holidays as per schedule
- Good repute
