To support research and teaching, the IT services of ETH Zurich operate as a service organization in a large and complex IT environment. We offer the members of ETH Zurich high-quality, flexible and scalable computer science services and support them in competition with the best universities in the world.

Our group Multimedia Technologies is responsible for AV-technical support of teaching. For this purpose, we develop, implement and supervise the necessary infrastructure in the lecture halls and seminar rooms of ETH Zurich and operate the services based on it.

As of 1.12.2026 or by agreement, we are looking for a:n lecture hall supporter:in with a share of evening service (m/f/d) to strengthen our team.

Job description

As part of our multimedia support team, you work at the Zurich Center (University Quarter) in a committed and collegial environment. Together we ensure that our audio-video systems function reliably and that the teaching operation runs smoothly.

With your enthusiasm for multimedia technology, you support our users in everyday life, help with technical questions and find suitable solutions together in a team. You take on support tasks, work on the AV installations during maintenance work and actively contribute with your know-how.

In the event of technical failures, you remain calm and structured. You analyze problems, fix them independently or provide the teaching company with a replacement solution within the agreed reaction times.

In addition to the support, you will be in contact with ETH members at our multimedia rental desk and support for simple video conferences. Your cooperation also supports the team in the exciting area of our multimedia conversion projects or by implementing smaller, exciting projects.

You enjoy working in the evening hours (about half) and appreciate the direct contact in the presence service. During the semester (mid-February to the end of May and mid-September to December) we are there until 8 pm for our users, during the semester break until 6 pm. For this, you benefit from well-planned working hours and the opportunity to take your holidays for the most part during the semester break.

Profile

• Training as event specialist EFZ, multimedia electronics technician EFZ or corresponding knowledge as a lateral entrant:in
• Several years of practical experience in technical support of audio-video installations
• Good basic knowledge of network technology, as well as good user knowledge of the operating systems Windows and MacOS
• Knowledge of current audio and video signal technology, also advantageous in AVoverIP technologies
• Strong analytical-technical thinking, for systematic troubleshooting in technical problems
• Proactive, reliable and careful work
• High degree of independence and personal responsibility, strong customer and service orientation
• Communicative, proactive team player who both enjoys sharing his knowledge and benefits from the experience of his employees
• Joy and motivation to stay technologically up-to-date and proactively delve deeper into the field
• Good oral and written communication in German and English
