Main responsibilities

  • You own the documentation for critical architectural choices regarding instrument communication, data acquisition and data integrity (Architecture Decision Records: ADR).
  • You design high-availability architectures for Instrument Control systems that include automated failover mechanisms and validated procedures to recover "in-flight" samples during a power or system failure without losing the analytical sequence.
  • You lead the technical design for the transition from hybrid paper/digital workflows to a fully integrated Paperless QC environment, ensuring high system availability and "offline-capable" architectures where necessary.
  • You conduct technical "deep-dives" and feasibility studies on emerging lab technologies (e.g., evolving analytical technologies, AR/VR for lab training, AI-driven result review) to determine their fit within the Roche enterprise landscape.
  • You proactively identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks in legacy lab instruments, ensuring that connectivity solutions do not become "brittle" or difficult to maintain.
  • You create and evolve the Conceptual & Logical Data Models specifically for lab instruments, ensuring alignment with FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
  • You architect and maintain the communication layer that facilitates seamless data exchange across the TechOps Quality ecosystem.
  • You design solutions that meet product requirements, business priorities, and enterprise standards.
  • Manages Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) and fitness functions.

  • Drives external technology trends and assesses feasibility, including vendor assessments.
  • You communicate difficult concepts clearly and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view.
  • Drive information sharing across the complete product.
  • Develop and maintain the product's technology roadmap.
  • Provide technical oversight, guidance, and consultation on specific technologies for product teams.
