Study social work and work in practice from the beginning. As a pilot project, we will award training positions from February 2027 for part-time studies as social workers in training.

You will be employed by us for the entire study period of 4 years and collect your practical hours in the two largest service departments of the Social Department of the City of Zurich. The Social Institutions and Companies (SEB) promote professional and social integration by offering housing and work integration as well as survival and drug assistance. The Social Services (SOD) ensure in the five social centers that people in the city of Zurich can count on effective basic social care.

Tasks

• You take on tasks that are based on the activities of a trained social worker.
• Depending on the location, your focus and insights into different areas of social work vary.
• In the course of your training, you take on more responsibility step by step and develop continuously.

You start in one of three locations and move on to other areas. You actively shape your training period.

• JOB PLUS (SEB): coaching and counselling of young people on their way to the first job market, placement of internships, apprenticeships and follow-up solutions as well as cooperation with companies and assignment positions.
• Ambulatory residential integration (SEB): Accompaniment and psychosocial care of adults with a majority of addiction in their daily living, home visits, support for residential competence and day-to-day structure, securing health care and cooperation with specialist centres and institutions.
• Economic social assistance Families and child and youth welfare (SOD): counselling and support for families in financial and social difficulties, orientation of economic social assistance, coordination of cooperation with internal and external bodies, partial tasks in the management of child protection mandates and clarification of child welfare risks on behalf of KESB.

Profile

• Matriculation for the study of social work at a Swiss university of applied sciences at the latest by the start of employment in February 2027
• High degree of motivation and commitment for continuous employment over the entire training period
• At least 23 years old
• Teamwork and sensitivity to complex life situations
• Constructive handling of diversity, areas of tension and different role expectations in cooperation with different stakeholders
• Depending on the area of application, readiness for shift work, including night and weekend assignments
