In the Facility Services department of ETH Zurich, we create the optimal conditions for teaching, research and technology transfer. We maintain the buildings and ensure the energy and media supply as well as the technical and infrastructural management of all rooms used by ETH Zurich.
Do you enjoy leading a team, developing processes and ensuring that a building operation functions smoothly, efficiently and customer-oriented? Do you like to work independently and keep an overview even in complex situations? Then we invite you to continue reading – because here you can expect a position with a lot of creative leeway and real effect.
For the Hönggerberg location, we are looking for a:n manager:in IGM (m/f/d) - with responsibility and heart for our buildings in the HC building area.
Job description
As Head of IGM, you will be responsible for the entire infrastructural operation of the HC building area and ensure smooth operation. You ensure that cleaning, maintenance, logistics and other infrastructural services are provided efficiently, economically and sustainably.
With your expertise, you continuously develop existing cleaning and operating processes, control internal employees and external service providers and ensure a high quality of service. You plan and coordinate cleaning and maintenance tasks, monitor the targeted use of personnel and resources and are responsible for the procurement and inventory of materials, equipment and machines.
In addition, you arrange and accompany special and basic cleaning, check the services provided and keep an eye on budgets, contracts and additional and reduced services at all times. In addition, you will take on a wide range of tasks in operational building operations. This includes minor repairs, troubleshooting, opening and closing buildings, optimizing HVAC operating times, and supporting events.
In the area of safety, you play an important role: You monitor fire alarm systems, process alarms, provide first aid if necessary and actively participate in the BMA and EVAK organization.
As a leader, you lead caretakers: inside and cleaning staff, promote their professional and personal development, plan resources forward and create a motivating working environment. In addition, you work in projects, accompany tenders and represent the building area manager in absences in both operational and strategic issues.
In short, you take responsibility for the infrastructural operation of buildings, drive their further development and ensure that processes, services and infrastructure reliably interlink.
Profile
- Basic craft training and preferably specialist training in facility management as well as several years of experience in infrastructural building management

- In-depth knowledge of cleaning processes, proven experience in process design, quality management and controlling as well as the ability to reconcile economic and ecological requirements
- In-depth project management skills, the ability to structure processes and set priorities, and the willingness to take responsibility and make decisions
- Basic technical understanding of buildings and building technology as well as a structured, solution-oriented approach

What salary does ETH Zürich offer for this role?
The original listing does not state a salary. Our estimate for this role and sector in Zürich is CHF 101'500 - 154'000 gross per year — an estimate, not a figure communicated by ETH Zürich. The calculator on this site converts a gross salary into your actual net take-home once cross-border tax and social contributions are applied.
Is this a full-time role, and what type of contract does ETH Zürich offer?
This listing is a full-time position. The contract type shown here comes directly from the employer's original posting; always confirm exact hours, notice period and probation length with ETH Zürich during the application process, since these details can vary by role even within the same contract category.
Do I need a cross-border work permit for a role in Zürich?
EU/EFTA residents living in the border zone of the country adjoining Canton Zürich can apply for a G permit; the Swiss employer files it with that canton's migration office after the contract is signed. Border-zone rules and processing times vary by neighbouring country and canton, so confirm the specifics with Zürich's cantonal migration office or with HR during the application.
