Job description

The ideal teaching for young adults with enthusiasm for natural sciences and chemical-physical processes!

You work in different areas of research

• Assist in the development and characterisation of chemical compounds and optimisation of their manufacturing processes
• Planning of experiments based on literature searches
• Performing experiments to create chemical compounds or answer analytical questions
• Use of glass apparatus and laboratory technology, such as synthetic robots
• Examination of chemical substances with high-precision analytical devices, for example for their purity or chemical structure
• Acquisition and evaluation of data and measurement series
• Documentation and evaluation of experiments

The training lasts 3 years, including 6 months of basic training in our teaching laboratory on the Hönggerberg campus of the ETH. During the apprenticeship, you will change location according to the rotation principle and get to know the ETH from different angles.

Profile

You enjoy experimenting and are interested in chemistry, physics and mathematics as well as working with electronic devices and complex equipment. In addition, you have good observation skills, fine motor skills, are reliable and have a careful, structured and accurate working style. With your ability to think connected, you approach experiments with enough endurance and patience.

For this vocational apprenticeship you need a mandatory school degree and good performance in the following school subjects:

• Mathematics
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
• English
• Computer skills are an advantage
