Role overview
- Ensure the use of the HPC platform (CSCS) for MeteoSwiss applications and drive their further development together with internal and external partners
- Accept, prioritize and represent requirements from operations, research and development to the CSCS and coordinate improvements in performance, stability and scalability
- Develop components of numerical weather forecasting systems as well as the associated workflow and data infrastructure and adapt them to new technological requirements
- Support and advise scientists in the areas of software development, HPC use and operation
- Ensure the reliable operation of business-critical production systems (including best-effort interventions and third-level support)
- Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, computational science or related field
- Several years of practical experience in software engineering, preferably with Python and modern software development practices as well as cloud-native architectures
- Experience in the operation and further development of high-performance computing environments as well as complex data and software workflows
- Ability to accommodate, prioritize and implement technical requirements of different stakeholders with internal and external partners
- Good knowledge of at least two official languages and of English
